Article Directories, Yay or Nay?
I recently tried using an article directory to drive some traffic to SharkFOO. An article directory is a website designed to help websites get free content, or for authors to get traffic for writing. Basically what I did was go to EzineArticles and submitted the first part of my How to Make a Website Popular for other websites to use. In return for writing this content for them, they are required to also post a little blurb about the author, me, and post it along with the article. In the blurb you can put a link back to your own website if you wish.
Who does this benefit?
This benefits you the author and the user who will get the free content… you get some back-links and they get free content. In theory it sounds really great, as long as the user of your content actually does post your required blurb. There might be ways to find unauthorized use of your content, but I have not researched that yet.
What kind of Traffic will you see from your articles?
From my little experiment I have seen very little to no traffic at all, there have been a few visitors, but nothing substantial. It could be that my article was not written very well or the topic I covered is not popular right now. Either way I don’t think I’ll be posting any more content to EzineArticles for a while, I just don’t see the type of return I want to even warrant any more time put towards them. Especially when I know of other, more lucrative ways to get traffic… but you’ll have to check back for that info on another day.
