A few days ago I wrote about a few blog promotion techniques I would try, to see if they would get me any more traffic. Turns out they did, slightly.

Here’s a list of the things I tried.

1. Stumbleupon - Submitting my site and giving it a review has not brought me any traffic in the past 2 weeks. Not one visitor. I’m not sure if thats because it hasn’t been included into the stumble yet, or if I haven’t had enough reviews… either way its not working for me.
2. BlogCatalog - I submitted my site 3 days ago to blogcatalog and have recieved a few visitors from it so far, the only thing that concerns me though, it seems to be a hangout for blog authors. That’s great to get the name out there and maybe grab a few backlinks but I doubt I’ll see any returning visitors.
3. CSSdrive - This is a bit strange, I submitted what I thought was a news post about an article on sharkfoo, but It seems all they did was post a link to my site with a small screenshot thumbnail. I’m not sure if they think its a new CSS design or what, but It has given me the most amount of visitors to my site, out of all the techniques I tried.
4. Image SEO - After installing the All in one SEO pack for Wordpress, I figured I would actually begin using the it. Interestingly enough I have recieved some hits from search engines by just adding a title and description to the images I’ve added in my posts. I recieved some traffic from people searching for marissa miller, who you can see in the How to Make a Popular Website, Part 2 post. I told you hot girls brings traffic.

So far that is pretty much all the techniques I’ve used that have given any real traffic, I plan on changing my theme from a 2 column to a 3 column layout and trying to focus more on SEO and adding keywords, titles, and descriptions as much as possible.
